Slightly comedogenic, broke me out
I understand that skincare is highly individual and that this product may work beautifully for some, but I wish I had done more research before trying it. While marula oil is generally considered low on the comedogenic scale, it’s still higher than I’m comfortable using on my face. Unfortunately, I wasn’t aware of this before trying it. I also found the absorption to be uneven, and it didn’t seal in moisture effectively, which led to breakouts after just a few days. For those with similar concerns, I’d recommend opting for a non-comedogenic, more occlusive product like tallow (I use grass-fed & finished suet, and it has cleared my skin completely) or jojoba oil. Both have worked well for me when applied after essence or moisturizer and have never caused breakouts.

Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil
Skincare staple for me but not groundbreaking
I've been using this face oil for about 5 years. I have very dry skin that is not sensitive. I found that the best way for me to use this face oil was to either mix it into my moisturizer or to apply 3-4 drops onto my fingers, spread it on my hands a bit, and then dust it onto my face before rubbing it in (over moisturizer). If you use more than 4 drops at a time or apply it directly from the dropper to your face, it's not going to go well. When I first started using this I noticed it was so hydrating it would completely erase the fine lines in my forehead overnight. However, I was 20 at the time and it doesn't fully cut it anymore at 25. These bottles lasted me a long time but I didn't use it super consistently, mostly during the winter when I needed an extra boost in moisture. I've never had any issues with this oil going bad, having a foul smell, etc. and I've held onto some of the ones I've gotten for a looong time, like well over a year. For the cost for the amount you get and the efficacy, I think this is a 4 star product. I'll have a soft spot in my heart for this face oil, but will probably be moving onto something more economical or higher power as I use face oil more now.
